Please help us

Today I bring the world’s challenges affecting me close to home. My good friends Herk and Wilma Hernandez have been helping their children with one of mysterious diseases that plague a small, but ever expanding group of the world’s people. Our culture is dominated by free enterprise, which is good, but many fall through the enormous cracks this system creates. Funding for research of rare diseases enlightens the effort for cure of such diseases, including Blood disorders in general. By understanding one, many disorders are better understood. Please read and assist in any way possible, as this is a tremendous challenge that affects us all, we just do not know when or how.

"Jakes on the Beach" at the Corner of New York and The Broadwalk on Hollywood Beach along with the Famous Curbstone Band will be playing and doing a Fund Raiser to help Save the Life of our Granddaughter. This Saturday, October 26th. They will be starting at 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, October 26th. Unfortunately, Herk and I will NOT be there but my Brother, Bob Cudlin, will be. Please Stop in. Listen to some Great Music. IF you would like to Read and Share more of Lauren's Story - Please Remember there is No Amount TOO Small - go to http://TalbertFamilyFoundation.org/pages/Lauren. PLEASE IF YOU CAN GIVE MAKE CERTAIN YOU PUT ON YOUR Credit Card or Check FOR: "LAUREN'S FUND"...Please again IF you can or are around the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood/Hallandale area; enjoy a Day at the Beach and Visit Jakes on the Beach- 595 N. Broadwalk, Hlwd 33019. Thank ALL of You for Sharing and Helping Our Family.

Wilma and Herk Hernandez, the Kyriakidis, Piscopo and Cudlin Families, love our Granddaughter, Lauren, needs a Life-Saving Immune Bone Marrow Transplant. Nat'l Institute of Health (NIH) in August for the First time in Lauren's 16 years of age; shared with her she may be able to live. This Transplant has NEVER been done successfully by NIH, Duke, Mayo, UCLA or a few dozen others. Lauren wants desperately to LIVE. She has touched numerous Lives in her short tenure in our World. She NEEDS a Strong Donor and close to $2M Dollars BEFORE Any Hospital will take the Risk. PLEASE SHARE HER STORY AND NEEDS. Thank Everyone for Their Help, Prayers and Donations

When Lauren was 2 ½ years old, her mother Cris found her lying in blood-soaked sheets and covered in bruises “it looked as if she had been severely beaten” recalls her father Otto Kyriakidis. Instead of a normal platelet count between 150,000 and 400,000, her platelet count was 4,000 per cubic millimeter of blood. Her initial diagnosis was I.T.P., but it was later found to be CVID (Common Variable Immunodeficiency), resulting in Lymphogrannulamotus and other immune disorders/diseases.  Lauren inherited both parents’ nonfunctioning RAG gene, generally causing a baby to born with SVID or SKIDs.  Since Lauren is still alive, the thought is that one of the RAG genes was functioning just enough.
In 2009, the National Institute of Health in Maryland joined in to research her unique disease. In addition to weekly treatments at the Children’s Hospital (CHOC), Lauren is also hospitalized at NIH yearly. Up until recently, her family was told there is no cure for her diseases, but now NIH has suggested an immune  bone marrow transplant may save her life.  Are you a match?

In November 2005, her sister Stacie found a lump in her own neck. A biopsy revealed that Stacie suffers from Castlemans’ disease, a very rare autoimmune disorder characterized by overactive immune cells developing in the lymph nodes. Stacie has already undergone several surgeries to remove part of her lymph nodes. http://www.choc.org/publications/coe_june2009.pdf   http://www2.ocregister.com/articles/lauren-stacie-says-2519369-hospital-choc

The new “Healthcare Overhaul” won’t cover these kids’ lifesaving medical care

It is true that insurers can no longer exclude people with pre-existing conditions; but the “Healthcare Overhaul” won't cover these kids’ lifesaving medical care. We need between $800,000 and $2,000,000 in cash before a Hospital will even begin a bone-marrow transplant procedure (exact cost is yet undetermined).

Risen Savior Missions

With the disasters piling up in the Philippines, and knowing the havoc it is causing for the regions missionaries I post this blog about Risen Savior Missions. Although there is quite a few missionary efforts ongoing in the Islands, the normal expected workload is more than challenging, and with several natural disasters this year, I pray for them all.

A truly amazing fact is that RSM is a private foundation, and I spoke to it's anchors, Gerald and Barbara Krosnowski. When you read the following consider the effort this couple have applied, feeding the world's starving.

Risen Savior Missions has shipped over 25 million donated children’s meals in the last 84 months for emergency humanitarian disaster relief in addition to over 500 sustained holistic feeding sites in the Philippines on an annual basis. *Summary derived from their website.

“Your prayers and donations enable us to continue this great work and save these homeless and parentless children living on the edge of darkness! Help them be the hope for thousands of these street children and end their suffering. They so desperately need us, and we heartily thank you on their behalf. May our work together be blessed!

With Love, Admiration and Respect,

Your brother and sister in Christ, Jerry and Barbara

Risen Savior Missions Gerald and Barbara Krosnowski Chairman” *Excerpt of an email from Jerry and Barbara

I spoke with Jerry and Barbara through email and they were warm, caring people. I began to get my footing on this subject after those conversations, they made me feel welcome. One would have to admit, their newsletter was powerful message. Please go to their site and read about all of their efforts. Jerry and Barbara have done this type of work since the 1960’s and the love their lives have provided so many others left me star struck. They were the first Charity I had the chance to meet and discuss their work. Their hospitality gave me the confidence to push forward with my labor for feeding the world’s starving, so insignificant when compared to these fine people, Thank you Jerry and Barbara!

International care ministries and I.

Today I am sharing another charity that are experts at "Feeding the World's Starving"

Below I furnish the link and blurb for the International Care Ministries Blog and my book listing for the charity. I was provided with help and insight from their Hong Kong office and the director. In the book I appreciated their input, but the communication skills they use blew me away, and to think they took the time to talk to us. I felt the sincere love they have for humanities down-trodden, and their selfless efforts to relieve the pain thriving in war-torn destinations, or in this case assembling the pieces of the Philippines and its people after the 7.2 earthquake wreaked havoc.

http://www.caremin.com/blog/2013/10/icm-responds-during-earthquake-crisis-in-bohol/
The 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the central Philippines on Tuesday morning severely devastated the Island of Bohol, where one of our ICM Bases is located.  The ICM staff were at home enjoying their public holiday when the earthquake struck.  The ICM Bohol Base employs 54 staff who work with over 600 partner pastors, but with the majority of ICM’s leaders traveling on a plane to Hong Kong on Tuesday for a leadership training, this became the first crisis for our new leader, Minierva Lahaylahay, who has just been promoted to interim Area Head of Bohol.

http://www.caremin.com/ Since 1992, ICM has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of ultra poor Filipinos in thousands of slum communities across the Philippines. After participating in our transforming values, health and livelihood training, our families experience:

- 85% reduction in reported physical abuse
- 22% reduction in reported serious illnesses
- 61% increase in household income

In 2012-2013, ICM has provided training to 745 communities, impacting over 115,000 family members. This charity is very effective and a superb effort.

A Larger View

Today we look at one of the organizations that show us “How we feed the world’s starving” In our book, we see that Feed My Starving Children are extremely vital in the pursuit of saving people around the world from starvation.

This is a complicated issue and FMSC. ORG is in the forefront of the effort providing seemingly infinite meals for missionary partners, food banks, and other charities who wish to provide food on a large scale, if you can help in any way it is needed.

The ever-changing metrics of the food production and provision chain is becoming more challenging by the hour, and the starving have been laid in our laps as the federal funds disappear, it really is all on our shoulders to help, or stand by with turned backs and pocketed hands. Below is links and projects currently on their website, please peruse as their effort is miraculous, and their work produces awesome results against poverty.

Who We Are

It is not through big government that we are reaching the poorest of the poor. It is through a chain of partners that starts with YOU and in-country workers like Diddi…

Feed Kids with Your Time AND Treasure
(Required $50 donation)

The truly amazing, most overwhelming feature for me is why they do what they do all they do, it is the same reason we should. Feed My Starving Children produced 153 million meals last year, with a giant army of partner charities helping distribution internationally. We saw that Missionaries evangelizing in the outermost reaches of civilization bring food to the needy, wherever it may be. Look at their website and consider what is the common denominator for the organizations in the process. Their love for the suffering masses brings relief to the starving. Evangelicals rely on the love their faith thirst to give, but secularist can love too. Government sponsored organizations like the United States or the coalition of internationally sponsored UNICEF has an important role as well, but FMSC and its meals are vital to all, and so is the missionary. I have learned quite a bit please enjoy their web site. Their history is an excellent source http://fmsc.org/aboutus/history-of-fmsc?

HHK https://www.facebook.com/pages/Helping-Honduras-Kids/93286517328

Helping Honduras Kids (HHK) is a non-profit, volunteer, Christian organization that manages a Children's Home (orphanage), caring for 21 children who have been abandoned, abused and/or neglected.  We also built and operate a free elementary school (Jungle School) located in the impoverished mountain area outside of La Ceiba.  Over 100 students attend. Children receive a quality education, daily devotional, and a nutritious lunch.  In addition, we provide much needed food to children and families in nearby Campesinos (peasant villages).  As we receive no government funding we are in great need of sponsors who will help support a child in our Children's Home, Jungle School, High School, or one of the remote Campesinos. http://www.helpinghonduraskids.org/
